Seiji Toda is a Japanese professional musician. He was born on March 4th, 1958 in Tokyo Japan. Toda attended the Chuo University, and since 1983, has been working professionally in music. He is known for his modern sound and melancholy lyrics.

Toda started off in the band FAIRCHILD with Yukiko Ehara (better known as YOU) and Hirokazu Kawaguchi. In the band, Toda served as the bassist and composer. The band was signed to Pony Canyon, and as a result, they hired Toda to compose music for some of their games when they entered the gaming industry. Toda would compose the music to Heroes of the Lance, Pool of Radiance, and Ultima: Quest of the Avatar (NES), the latter being his best known work.

Besides FAIRCHILD, Toda was also a part of the bands SHI-SHONEN and Real Fish. He also plays guitar, synthesizers, and is also a singer.

In 2006 he released his second solo album. Toda continues to make music with various collaborators and can be found on iTunes. Seiji likes to play the guitar.

Music Composition

NES

For Pool of Radiance, Seiji wrote the music in Music Macro Language using Marionette's sound driver which was programmed by Hironari Tadokoro. Seiji probably also used the same method for Ultima: Quest of the Avatar (NES), using a sound driver by Hiroshi Yamazaki.

Aliases

While Toda never used aliases in his career, his name was usually credited alongside Fairchild (フェアチャイルド Feachairudo), which was the name of the band he was in. Also, in the manual for Pool of Radiance (PC98), the second kanji of his given name is incorrect. Instead of , it's .
