The Prelude is a popular theme throughout the Final Fantasy series. The song was composed by Nobuo Uematsu for the very first game in the series Final Fantasy (NES), and published in the game on December 18, 1987, but has since been reused and remixed for a number of games in the Final Fantasy series. The tune includes several repeating arpeggios.
Title
The Prelude was first officially released in Japan on the Final Fantasy I-II soundtrack with the title プレリュード (Pureryudo). Since the title is in katakana, its direct English translation is "Prelude." The song has been used in many subsequent Final Fantasy games with soundtracks released in English, and on those, the title is usually rendered as, "The Prelude," thus the title used here.
