Yasuhiro Kawakami is a Japanese composer and sound designer. He first started working at Sega around 1987, composing the music to their arcade games such as Shinobi and Tetris (under the name Y.K). Around 1991, he started working at Irem for a short time. Later, around 1992, he joined Square Enix around the same time as Ryuji Sasai, and as a result, the two share many game credits together.
