Title is Chris Hülsbeck's first digital video game song. It is not programmed, but sampled. Hülsbeck did not use his Amiga regularly yet, and his first known programming is from January 1988. He may have composed the song on a synthesizer and he or the game programmers Thomas Hertzler and Achim Schulze may have digitized his performance. Whatever the process, it should be verified with Chris Hülsbeck.
Title
In the Amiga port, the filename is LUCIFER, which is interesting because the song sounds a bit like Voyager by The Alan Parsons Project, who also had a song named Lucifer.
Composition
The song is in 3/4 time.
Games
Sky-Fighter (AST)
The game was created on the ST. Ironically, the music quality is higher in every way than in the Amiga port. The arrangement consists of 4 patterns (each one big unsigned 8-bit sample): an orchestra hit (filename T1), a melody (M1), a chord solo (M2), and a drum solo (D1).
The programmer did not give himself full control over the frequency. On the 8 Mhz machines of the day, Title plays at 15077 Hz and was recorded as such from the title screen in Hatari v2.2.1. On 16 Mhz machines, it plays way too high and fast.
Sky-Fighter (AMI)
The game was ported from the ST to the Amiga and is overall slightly less polished there. In the music data, only the melody is present, recorded at a lower frequency and with less bass. To the title and preferences screens, it plays even lower, namely at 11823 Hz (the Paula sound chip's clock divided by 300), and only on the left speaker.
It was recorded from the title screen in WinUAE 4.3.0.
