Title is a short tune that plays on the title screen of J.J. & Jeff (TG16).

The song was composed by Takeaki Kunimoto on his various Yamaha MSX music computers, and arranged to play on the TurboGrafx-16 by Toshiyuki Sasagawa by entering the music in Music Macro Language on a PC-9801 computer.

Song Title

The song's title comes from the Takeaki Kinoko Kunimoto History Vol.5: Katoken album. The song title on the CD is in Japanese, タイトル (Taitoru), which literally translates to Title.

The song is a jazzy ballad in 4/4 shuffle in the key of G and plays at approximately 150 BPM. Most of the song consists of four saw waves simulating a brass band (the original demo tapes use a brass patch), playing all sorts of incredibly complex chord progressions. Accompanying the brass is a walking bassline every quarter note (with the occasional 8th notes and 8th note triplets), as well as a simple drumline with occasional drum fills. The song then finishes on a G7 in free time, where the brass slides up, and then at the last drum hit, slides back down.

Fortunately, the whole song is allowed to play before the game goes to the opening cutscene, rather than get cut off like so many other games did back in the day.
