Tappi Iwase is a Japanese composer, sound designer, drummer, and musician. He is known for his countless works with Konami. He started playing drums when he was young, and eventually moved to the United States in 1988, studying composition and arrangement at the Grove Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. In 1991, he returned to Japan and started working for Konami. He composed many memorable titles for the company, including Madara 2, Contra Spirits, and Metal Gear Solid. During his time with Konami, he composed under the pseudonym TAPPY. He was also a drummer in Konami's in-house band, the Konami Kukeiha Club.

In 1999, Tappi left Konami to work as a freelance artist, and records for many artists. He also has his own band called 宴 (Utage = Banquet). He is also a lecturer at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. He also played drums on the track Pulse de Chocobo in Final Fantasy XIII. He also played drums in the songs of Gravity Dance 2.
