Stoppt den Calippo Fresser (German: Stop the Calippo eater) is a mix of obstacle courses and simple puzzles. Subtitled "Comad-Freeware 1", the game was paid by Langnese to advertise their Calippo freeze pops, introduced seven years earlier.

Somewhere in the Caribbean, on small Calippo-Island, crisis is imminent: The bad Calippo-eater is hoarding all the fruity fresh Calippos. As the chosen hero of the game, C.C.Cool, only you can stop him. There's no violence, but your energy is drained by obstacles (even clouds) and directly emptied by animals, replenished by the occasional floating Calippo and every 30000 points.

All levels are derided either for dullness or difficulty. Most YouTubers don't get past the first level. Some commenters cited the title as the best thing about the game.

Music

The executive producer had worked with the Detert brothers for years; now they delivered a couple of songs and jingles, a bit Carribean but mostly synth-pop, arranged on an 8580 chip in their own editor, Compotech, and sound effects for beating levels 6 and 8.

Tracks 1 and 3 were also arranged for the Amiga version by Nils Ruzicka. Track 4 feels similar, though possibly by coincidence. All others are completely different and fit less than the Caribbean style on the Amiga.

Recording

All songs were recorded from the game in VICE 3.2 with C64C PAL.

Audio Devices

This game uses the computer's built-in SID chip. Most of the bass and drums sound different on some 6581s because they use SID's inconsistent low-pass filter. An official NTSC release is unlikely.

Releases

Starting on June 12, 1992, Langnese advertised a telephone number in 64'er 7/92 and ASM 7/92 and sent the game to the first 25000 callers.
