The Sound Blaster 16 is a sound card for DOS-based computers released in June 1992. It utilized YMF262 (OPL3) sound chip capable of 20 distinct audio channels using FM Synthesis and a 16-bit DAC to play digital sound effects and speech. For additional details about the sound card, see Sound Blaster 16.
Creative Labs bundled several audio files with the card and various programs to play them like Play CMF. The included new music has been recorded here. Several of these programs are upgrades from the software bundled with the original Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro. As improvements were made to the card, upgrades to the software were also made and released by Creative.

Music
As of October 1992 the sound card drivers include the new "Sound Blaster 16 Features" Multimedia Player demo. The Cloud is used as the background music, however it originally appeared on the "Adlib Song Album #7: New Age Echoes" as THECLOUD.ROL and was converted by ROL to CMF utility.
While being used for presenting the Sound Blaster 16 capabilities, the player did not utilize OPL3 features, such as stereo sound, dual banking (up to 20 FM voices), and 4OP instruments.
Recordings
The CMF file was recorded directly from the demo which ran in DOSBox.
