The Sound Adapter was sold by Faster Than Light and distributed with special copies of Dungeon Master (DOS). It is an external DAC that attaches to a computer's parallel port and provides a stereo output as well as a pass-through 9-pin serial port for attaching older joysticks. The Sound Adapter is capable of producing 8-bit mono sound in a manner similar to the Speech Thing.
