Smooth Criminal is a song from Michael Jackson's Bad album, itself released on August 31, 1987.
Further releases were in autumn 1988, namely through the music video on MTV on October 13, the Moonwalker movie on the 29th, and the single on November 14.
Composition
The lyrics are about a woman who has been attacked in her apartment by a "soft criminal". The refrain "Annie, are you okay?" it was inspired by the Resusci Anne, a mannequin used in CPR training.
