Russell Lieblich is an unofficial name of the sound driver used in the game Roundball 2-on-2 Challenge (NES), named after its programmer. According to Roundball's programmer Troy Lyndon, Russell Lieblich programmed it.

While Russell created the sound driver, he never got the chance to use it as Michelle Sorger composed the games music using Cakewalk, which means Russell or some other programmer developed a MIDI to NES program.

Release History

The only game to use the sound driver was Park Place Productions' only NES game, Roundball 2-on-2 Challenge. The game was only released in North America and Europe, and Japan never saw a release of the game.

Output

The game outputs to all channels of the RP2A03 and RP2A07, but only the DPCM channel is used for a voice used at the title screen that says the game's title. The voice sample is in surprisingly good quality. Since the voice is male, this may have been the voice of Russell but it isn't known at this time.

Instruments

The game only uses a 25% square wave with a volume of 06 for the square channels and the noise channel has a volume of 0F (15). The noise channel appears to be mapped to MIDI drums.
