Run Up Like Bonfires, Blue Nights (Взвейтесь кострами, синие ночи) is a Soviet pioneers march.
Aleksandr Zharov was commissioned to write the lyrics to the song in two weeks by Nadezhda Krupskaya's suggestion. While looking for an inspiration, Zharov listened to Charles Gounod's Choeur des soldats during Faust opera and based his song on it. Sergey Kaydan-Dyoshkin gave the music a different tone and adapted it for bugle instrument.

Lyrics
English Run up like bonfires, blue nights! We, pioneers, are the workers' children. The era of bright years is soon. Our motto is "always be ready!". Joyfully taking steps, singing a happy song, We are following the Komsomol. The era of bright years is soon. Our motto is "always be ready!". We are raising the Red Flag, The workers' children bravely join us. The era of bright years is soon. Our motto is "always be ready!". Run up like bonfires, blue nights! We, pioneers, are the workers' children. The era of bright years is soon. Our motto is "always be ready!". Our motto is "always be ready!". |
