The RF5C68 is an audio chip with 8 PCM channels, each capable of playing 19.6 kHz or variable sampling rate. It was mostly used for sound effects and voice rather than music, as the various platforms that used it usually had an on-board FM Synthesis chip.

The RF5C68 is the on-board chip for the FM Towns and was also used on Sega's System 18 and System 32 arcade boards.
