Qix is a 1981 puzzle video game developed by husband and wife team Randy and Sandy Pfeiffer and published in arcades by Taito America. Qix is one of a handful of games made by Taito's American division. At the start of each level, the playing field is a large, empty rectangle, containing the Qix, a stick-like entity that performs graceful but unpredictable motions within the confines of the rectangle. The objective is to draw lines that close off parts of the rectangle to fill in a set amount of the playfield.
Qix was ported to the contemporary Atari 5200 (1982), Atari 8-bit family (1983), and Commodore 64 (1983), then was brought to a wide variety of systems in the late 1980s and early 1990s: MS-DOS (1989), Amiga (1989), another version for the C64 (1989), Apple IIGS (1990), Game Boy (1990), Nintendo Entertainment System (1991), and Atari Lynx (1991).
The NES version was converted by Novotrade International of Impossible Mission II and Ecco the Dolphin fame.

Music
The music for the whole game leaves a whole lot of desired. Peter Gosztola of Impossible Mission II (NES) fame did a good job writing its music. He arranged Tim Follin's music from the computer versions by Alien Technology, which was implemented as MIDI files to Gosztola himself which was converted to his own sound driver.

Similar to Impossible Mission II (NES), the game lacked credits, just because there is probably not enough cartridge space, like most of Kemco's games, or to prevent their staff being hired by other companies, like Rare's games. We have contacted Peter Gosztola, who had composed the title.
Game Rip
Ripping NSF music is an arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
Audio Devices
The game uses the RP2A03 for music and sound effects. It uses Peter Gosztola's sound driver.
