Opening (オープニング) is the name of the song that plays at the title screen of Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally (FDS). The song title comes from the 3D Hot Rally album. An arranged version of this song is also found on the album called Pit Circus.

Composition

The song is very interesting in its scope; it starts out playing in the 9/8 time signature; possibly the first video game tune to do so, at least for the Famicom/Famicom Disk System. The second half of the song is in the standard 4/4 time signature. The song is in the key of C major (though the song later plays a B♭ and A♭ chord).

The two square channels and triangle channels harmonize throughout, though some parts have the two square channels play the same note with chorus/detune. The FDS channel serves as the song's bassline, and is made to sound like a slap bass. The rest of the game's soundtrack that uses the FDS channel also use the same instrument.
