Masao Asakawa is a Japanese composer. He worked for ASK Kodansha. He has also worked on character design and programming.

Audio Development

Game Boy

For Catrap and Mikineko Holmes, Asakawa used a custom sound driver, possibly coded by himself.

For Monster Tactics, he used another custom sound driver. The same driver may have also been used in the game Kaitei Densetsu!! Treasure World, as both games were by the same developer.

Genesis

Asakawa used a version of Sega's SMPS in Viewpoint.

NES

Asakawa used a custom sound driver not used in any other game.

SNES

Masao used a variant of Kankichi-kun. The variant was originally made by Kennosuke Suemura, but then further modified by Nexus Interact.
