Mark Tait is an English composer, sound designer, and arranger, known for his works at Tiertex.
Mark's interest in computers started when he saw the games made for British home computers at the time and asked his parents to get him a computer for Christmas. His first computer was a Commodore VIC 20, and he started learning BASIC for it. Though he had friends with ZX Spectrums and other computers, due to him already owning a Commodore computer and his interest in music, he bought a Commodore 64.
John wanted to learn how to hack games which led him to wanting to program for the Commodore 64. He got the Zeus assembler and a programming book and with these tools taught himself how to program. However, he was very interested in the SID, the soundchip of the Commodore 64. This led to him writing music and programs for it and uploading them to bulletin boards. As a result, he would pick up freelance jobs with various software developers. From this, the founders of Tiertex, Donald Campbell and John Prince, had Mark work on their conversion of Capcom's 1943. Because of his work on the game, they gave Mark a full-time position. Some companies even used Tait's demo tunes for their own games. Though he was disappointed they didn't ask his permission, he was also grateful that they liked his music enough to use it in their games.

Tait wrote his own sound driver, possibly in Zeus assembler.
He later used Pro 24 on the Atari ST, and coded a utility to convert his MIDI files accordingly.
