Kiyohiro Sada (better known as Kyohei Sada) is a Japanese former music composer, sound designer, and audio programmer for video games.

Sada attended the Osaka University of Arts and studied music under Kyohei Tsutsumi. In 1986, he started working at Konami, where he was usually credited as "Charly". There, he primarily composed music for the company's NES and Famicom Disk System titles. Around 1989, Sada left Konami and started working at Natsume. There, he continued to compose for the NES and other platforms like the Game Boy. He also became a producer for the company and produced Idol Hakkenden, which has a cult following in its native Japan. He also composed gems such as Abadox and Palamedes. He also composed S.C.A.T., which is Sada's personal favorite.

In 1993, Sada founded Pure Sound, a sound team that produces video game music to various game companies. He has been involved with over 100 productions with Pure Sound alone.

In addition to music and sound effects, Sada also programmed sound drivers for the various platforms he and Pure Sound worked on. He is also the creator of "Pac-Tune", a Pac-Man-themed audio editor.

Today, Sada continues to operate Pure Sound.

Audio Development

GBC

Sada programmed a sound driver for the Game Boy's modified Z80. Music was entered in hexadecimal via a text editor. Then the music was arduously compiled.

NES

Sada used Konami's sound driver, in which the music was written in 6502 assembly language.

When Sada started working at Natsume, he coded his own sound driver, in which he also wrote in 6502 assembly machine code using hexadecimal numbers for notation.
