Joe Abbati is an American composer and sound designer. He started off in 1988 working in a music store called Peaches Records as an assistant manager. In 1991, he joined the game industry when he worked at Capstone Software. There, he learned sound programming, MIDI, and even got an Ensoniq ASR-10 with Digidesign Session 8 from the company. In 1996, Abbati left Capstone to work at VR Tech as an audio director and programmer. In 1997, he worked at n-Space on their Playstation title Duke Nukem: Time to Kill. Around this time, he composed several titles for Gunnar Games and worked as a freelancer composer up until 2016. Ever since 1998, Abbati is a Lecturer of Music Engineering Technology at the University of Miami. He composed his last video game in 2015 and now no longer works on video games.
