Jangou (雀豪 Jangō) is a mahjong simulation game. It was originally made for Japanese home computers by Orpheck, and was ported to the Famicom by CrossTalk. A Jangō refers to a person who is skilled at Mahjong. In Mahjong, 16 tiles are dealt to four different players that compete against each other to achieve the highest score. The tiles used in the game are mahjong tiles, in which there are 144 tiles. You must get three of a kinds and straights of three tiles and combinations thereof. These must be done for the same suits. There are a few different calls you can make during a game of mahjong; if a player who has gone before you discards a tile that you need to complete a three-of-a-kind, you can call (ポン). If a player to your left (the player just before you) discards a tile you need to complete a straight of three tiles, you can call Chi (チー). If you are one tile away from a winning hand, you are in Tenpai (テンパイ). Whoever gets a winning hand first must call the winning hand. This happens when a player gets either Ron (ロン) where a player uses the previous player's discarded tile to complete their hand, or Tsumo (ツモ) if the player self-draws the winning tile from their own pile.
Before you can play, you must first enter your birth date and a PIN number consisting of four numbers. After that, you must enter a name. Once you're ready, you can pick one of five players and start. There are a few games in a session, and after each session, points are either awarded from you and/or the other three players. Naturally, whoever has the most amount of points at the end is the winner.

Music
The game has only three songs, which is extremely short for a Famicom soundtrack, especially one which was released as late as 1990. The title screen sounds like the game it represents, as it sounds like an ancient Japanese anthem.
According to Kobayashi, he did not compose the game's music, but rather arranged them from the original games. However, it is unknown exactly which game in the series it came from. It is thought the original composer is Mirage, but this should be confirmed.
Yoshio Kobayashi said he was the arranger and sound effects designer.
This game uses the same sound engine as Arctic (FC), Bakushou! Jinsei Gekijou (FC), and Hillsfar (NES).
