J.League Fighting Soccer: The King of Ace Strikers is a soccer simulator game based on the popular J.League soccer tournaments in Japan. It was developed by Graphic Research and published by IGS. The player can choose from 12 teams and players from the J.League rosters.

The game was never released outside of Japan, presumably due to J.League not being well-known outside of Japan, but a majority of the game is in English, so players who can't understand Japanese shouldn't have too much of a problem playing the game.

Graphic Research later released J.League Winning Goal (FC), as well as porting the game to the Game Boy.

Music

For a game released in 1993, J.League Fighting Soccer more than delivers in the audio department; Not only are there plenty of songs, but all of them sound great, thanks to Fumito Tamayama tweaking the game's sound driver to add better instrument design such as the triangle channel being used for drums and percussion in conjunction with the noise channel, making for realistic-sounding electronic drums, similar to the Follins' NES music. What's even more surprising is that this was the first video game to be scored by Yoko Kawashima, who had just joined Graphic Research's audio team. Though Widget (NES) was released first, Yoko said that J.League Fighting Soccer was her first game.

According to Yoko, she entered the music in Music Macro Language in Graphic Research's NES sound driver.

Interestingly, even though it was developed by the same company, the Game Boy version of this game features completely different music, instead composed by Fumito Tamayama.

Credits

(Source: Verification from audio staff; game lacks credits.)

Unfortunately, despite being a later release when credits in video games were more common, this game lacks the polish of them, no matter which mode of the game you beat. Seeing that Winning Goal has credits and was published by a different company, it is presumed this game's publisher, IGS, prohibited the use of game credits. However, this also seems unlikely, as the Game Boy version, developed and published by the same companies, has credits. While Yoko Kawashima has no memory about working on the game, we have received verification Fumito Tamayama that she was the game's sole composer. Yoko said that if Tamayama said it was her, then she believes it.
