This page is for the Doom (DOS) song, for more titles see Introduction.

Introduction AdLib is an alternate version of Doom's Introduction tune that is played when the game is setup to use AdLib or Sound Blaster for music instead of General MIDI.

"Introduction AdLib" sounds similar to "Introduction" when played through a MUS player, but it sounds considerably different when played on an actual AdLib board.

Bobby Prince composed this song using Sequencer Plus Gold.

Note: Unlike the other songs of Doom (DOS), "Introduction AdLib" was recorded during actual game play in order to get the proper OPL2 sound. It should be re-recorded when a suitable playback method is discovered.

The DOS version represents the song as a brief crash of sound that is played at the title screen before showing the demo rotation. After the last demo ends the title screen shows again and plays this song.

This track is only played if Sound Blaster or AdLib are set up, otherwise the other version of this tune called Introduction will be played. The internal name of this song is "D_INTROA".

The Jaguar version of Doom features a rearrangement of exactly this song, as it sounds better there. It plays in the title screen as usual and will stop once the demo rotation begins or the main menu shows.
