Gray Chang was born in Los Angeles, California and attended college at UC Santa Cruz. He later earned a degree in Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley.

In 1981, Chang bought an Atari 800 computer and began designing and programming games in his spare time. He sold the first game he wrote, Dog Daze, to Atari and it sold well enough for him to quit his job and become a full-time game designer.

In 1982, his game Claim Jumper (A8) was released, the only game where Chang worked on the audio. He arranged the music composed by his relative Phil Young.

Chang release a couple other games, but the video game market crash of 1983 forced him to retire from the gaming industry early. He now works as a technical writer for an engineering software company in Silicon Valley.

Music Composition

While Chang didn't compose any music, he did arrange music and write audio code. He used the default driver of the Atari 800 for audio.
