The Get Item Jingle was composed by Hirokazu Tanaka for the game Metroid (NES). Metroid went on to become a very popular franchise for Nintendo, and many of the sequels reuse this jingle. Originally, the tune was played each time Samus collected a new item. Later games used it for various positive events as well.
The title of this tune comes from the Game Sound Museum ~Famicom Edition~ 12 Metroid album.
The game Ys III: Wanderers From Ys uses a very similar tune when you get an item.
