- This page is for the Mega Man song, for more titles see Game Start.
Game Start is a fanfare that plays when a boss robot is introduced after choosing them. It was used in the first, second and fourth Mega Man games before it was replaced in the NES games, but other games in the Mega Man series have used it as well.

Mega Man (NES)
This is the original version of Game Start. The song appears on the official soundtrack album, from which the title is derived. It is track 2 in the NSF file.
Mega Man II (NES)
Takashi Tateishi remixed Matsumae's theme for the second Mega Man. More attention was given to the base line and the theme sounds more polished over all. This version of the track also appears on the
official soundtrack album. It is track 16 in the NSF file.
Mega Man 4 (NES)
Mega Man III (GB)
Mega Man X (SNES)
Setsuo Yamamoto took advantage of the SNES's greater sound capabilities when rearranging the song, adding a rapidly-paced percussion line to the original melody. Official soundtrack albums consistently name this version "Stage Start."
This song is track 12 in the game's sound test.
Mega Man: The Wily Wars (GEN)
Mega Man VII (SNES)
Mega Man VII has two distinct arrangements of the song, both of which were done by either Yuko Takehara or Toshihiko Horiyama. (The third co-composer, Makoto Tomozawa, provided a list of the songs he made on Twitter in 2011 -- this was not among them.)
The regular version (also called "Game Start") plays in its usual position after selecting a Robot Master. The other one plays during a gag right before the opening stage: Mega Man is given a different helmet, accompanied by an arrangement of the song (aptly dubbed "Helmet" in Mega Man 7 Sound Collection) that abruptly gives up after just two seconds. Shortly afterward, the "proper" version plays once he gets his regular helmet on and prepares for action.
