Game Over is a downbeat tune that plays Starship Hector after the boss of stage 6 has been bested by the player. The player is rewarded with an ending screen telling them that they saved humanity.

The song was written by Takeaki Kunimoto on his Yamaha CX-7 MSX2 computer. The song was then given to Hudson Soft to implement into the game.

The song's title comes from Kinoko Kunimoto History Vol.3: Meikyuu Hector. Its title, ゲームオーバー (Gēmu Ōbā) literally translates to Game Over. The album Famicom 20th Anniversary Original Sound Tracks Vol. 2 also uses the same title.

Composition

The song is a medium-paced waltz. It is in the key of G major, and plays at approximately 112 BPM. The song does not loop.
