Final Fantasy VI: Grand Finale features the music of Final Fantasy III (SNES), originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu, professionally performed by the Milan Symphony Orchestra. Rather than use synthesizers, the game music has been rearranged for traditional musical instruments—so the cello from Gau's Theme and the bagpipes from Relm's Theme are actually performed on a cello and bagpipes. The use of traditional instruments really gives the music a more genuine sound.
Some of the tracks feature additional music before and after the normal song. For example, the Cefca track has a special intro and The Mystery Train track has an outro borrowed from the Chocobo Theme. A few of the songs have been altered a great deal, but most of them are easily recognizable. Aria di Mezzo Carattere is performed in classical operatic vocals in Italian.
