Collect is a get-ready jingle in To be on Top, played before a round of collecting inspirations.

Composition

The song is in C major, features 5 slow bass notes with a low-pass filter, repeated twice, and a half as long, muffled arpeggio spread over two voices to allow reverb. It altogether sounds like anticipating (and later found) indifference.

The driver outputs the song to the SID chip and was recorded doing so within VICE 3.2 with the model 6581 (ReSID) and the filter bias 180, although it is unconfirmed how close it is to what the arranger heard. It is track 17 in the rip.

The game sets the driver up to stop at 0:07.66, but the driver forgets to release voices; only the PWM is stopped and the last bass note sustains until you press space. The recording fades out as per VGMPF guide.

Hippel added the drums from the 4th inspiration, changed the bass line to be lively and chose sharp instruments, like the character is looking much more forward to the upcoming step.

The driver outputs the song to the YM2149F chip and was recorded doing so within Steem SSE 3.9.4.
