Bionic Commando (トップシークレット, Top Secret in Japan) is a platform shooter where you control a soldier who has a bionic grappling-hook for an arm. Since you can't jump, the grappling hook is your only source of vertical movement. The game is a pseudo-sequel to Commando (ARC), however, it is drastically different.
Like most early arcade games, there is little in the way of plot. The game doesn't have a back-story or clear objective. You just shoot all the enemy soldiers and avoid the hazardous environment on your way to the ends of each stage. Each stage ends with a "boss" soldier which is actually one of the weakest enemies in the game.
The game only features 5 stages, but like early arcade games, it makes up for begins short by being extremely difficult. Even with the game set into easy mode, few beginner players will finish the first stage.

It may take some work before you're able to reach the end of the first stage.

Harumi Fujita composed the music and sound effects for
Bionic Commando. Two of the game's tracks
Bionic Commando Theme and
Power Plant, became staples in the Bionic Commando series and are remixed in several games.
There are several songs in the game's ROM that are not used anywhere in the game. They mostly sound to be unused fanfares and testing tracks, but there is one complete background song that was left unused.

Game Rip
The internal format has not been ripped, but VGM logs have been made from the sound test in the game, emulated using MAMEUI 64 v1.46. Tracks 0x01-0x10 are music and tracks 0x11-0x3F are sound effects.
Audio Devices
The arcade game uses a YM2151 chip (clocked at 3.58 MHz) for audio, which was a sound chip in the late 1980s.
