Audacity is an open source cross-platform audio editor. It supports playback and editing of various audio formats and has a wide variety of audio editing tools and effects.
The follow audio formats can be edited and played natively by Audacity:
AIFF, AU, AUP, FLAC, MP2, OGG, WAV
The following audio formats require the user to install a free third-party library:
AAC (with FFmpeg), AC3 (with FFmpeg), AMR (with FFmpeg), MP3 (with LAME), WMA (with FFmpeg, lossless only)
Audacity can read some versions of VOC files, but it cannot save into the format, only convert it to another format.
