Alfred Chicken is an action-platformer by Twilight and published by Mindscape. The game was released for the Amiga and CD32 before arriving on the NES in 1993, making it one of the last games released for the system.
In this game, you play as the titular character, Alfred Chicken, who must rescue the eggs from the evil Meka-Chickens. There are only five levels, but each one is difficult, mainly because Alfred dies in one hit, and after the player loses all their lives, the game is over, as there are no continues. The main goal of each level is to find all the balloons and pop them in order to exit the level. In addition, a watercan must be located on each level to access the "good" ending.
The NES version, besides cutting some levels, plays similar to the Amiga original. There is also the obvious downgrade in music and sound effects.

Music
Alfred Chicken's music was written by famed video game musician David Whittaker, who converted his own Amiga soundtrack to the NES. Besides the downgrade from a digital audio chip to a PSG chip, the music is pretty faithful to the Amiga original.
The music is recorded in both the PAL and NTSC formats, as the PAL version is the original and what David Whittaker intended for the music to sound like. He was able to configure his sound driver to play at the same speed in NTSC regions as the PAL music, but wasn't able to fix the problem where the NTSC version plays the music 1 1/4 steps sharp. The PAL version is first because it was the first version of the game released. Because of the length of the songs, the stage themes are recorded with only one playthrough before fadeout.
Whittaker wrote his music in the traditional way, by writing in assembly language, specifically, 6502 assembly for the NES version. Though Whittaker said this wasn't a problem, as he was always able to convert entire soundtracks to another platform in less than a day.
