720° is an aerial-view skateboarding game first released in the arcades in 1986. It was later ported to the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Game Boy Color, and ZX Spectrum. It even spawned a sequel on the Commodore 64.

In this game, you control a skateboarder and must go around the park and buy equipment like a helmet, skateboard, shoes, and pads. Then, you must compete in four different events; downhill, ramp, jump, and slalom. Along the way, you must avoid hazards in the park such as frisbee-throwing women, killer bees, pools of water, and cars.

Beam Software handled the NES conversion. Beam Software didn't have all that good of a track record back then, producing some mediocre titles such as Back to the Future (NES) and The Last Ninja (NES).

Music

The music is ported from the arcade's FM sound to the NES' limited RP2A03. The original arcade game's music was composed by Hal Canon and Earl Vickers. The NES version does not have credits, but we have received verification that Neil Brennan, a programmer at Beam Software, did the music conversion. It sounds rushed, and there's only four songs in the game, but at the time, Beam didn't have any other musicians working for them. Brennan converted the music to his driver's Music Macro Language. Like the unrelated Ghosts 'N Goblins (NES), his driver plays out of tune at 451.1 Hz.

Since we have obtained the source code for this game, the source code gives the official titles of each song.

(Info)

The NSF contains 12 tracks; 2 blank tracks, 4 songs, and 6 sound effects. The music was recorded in rainwarrior's version of NSFPlay since it plays the NSF properly. Most other NSF players play the music too fast.

In the source code, the songs have file names. "720 Downhill Theme" is named THEME1.T, "Slalom Theme" is named THEME2.T, "Main Park Theme" is named THEME3.T, "Opening Theme" is named THEME4.T.
