The 4x4 Off-Road Racing Theme is the title music for the game 4x4 Off-Road Racing. Although the game credits Paul Jaquays (now know as Jennell Jaquays) as "Theme," Jaquays explained that she created the over-all concept or "theme" of the game, not the music. Because of this, the composer remains unknown.
Games
4x4 Off-Road Racing (C64)
This is the very first appearance of the 4x4 Off-Road Racing Theme. On NTSC, the song starts at E, but on PAL, it is tuned at 424 Hz, sounding closer to D♯. Apart from that, it sounds the same on every SID chip. In the SID rip, it is track 1.
4x4 Off-Road Racing (AMI)
4x4 Off-Road Racing (CPC)
Starting at F, the CPC arrangement appears to be a quick port from the Spectrum 128K. Cooksey's Spectrum 128K drivers were always tuned two semitones lower.
4x4 Off-Road Racing (DOS)
The 4x4 Off-Road Racing Theme plays at the title. It is rendered on the PC Speaker.
4x4 Off-Road Racing (MSX)
The MSX version is identical to the ZX Spectrum 128K one (except naturally for the audio chip being at a different location on both platforms). This makes it the only known occurrence of Mark Cooksey's driver on the MSX. Still, whether he did this arrangement himself is unknown.
4x4 Off-Road Racing (ZXS)
The 4x4 Off-Road Racing Theme plays at the title. It only plays on a Spectrum 128K equipped with an AY-3-8912.
At D♯ and quite slow, it was apparently rearranged from a C64 PAL.
