Yuka Tsujiyoko (born Yuka Banba (馬場 由佳)) is a Japanese composer who is known for her work in the Fire Emblem series.

She started getting involved with music when she studied piano while in preschool. Yuka had never composed music until she was in high school as an assignment. She first started off working at as a computer programmer for a software company, and later started working for one of Nintendo's companies, Intelligent Systems. While at Intelligent Systems, she worked under Hirokazu Tanaka, who was her supervisor. Tsujiyoko said that he was one of her biggest influences as a result. Some of Tsujiyoko's favorite artists include Pat Metheny, Kenny Drew, Akiko Yano, and Kadomatsu Toshiki. She enjoys playing the Hammond organ, as well as reading books, her favorite author being Stephen King.

Tsujiyoko continues to work at Intelligent Systems as a sound supervisor. Though she left the company, she either rejoined or works with them as a freelance composer, as Tsujiyoko stated that she wanted to work on other fields of audio besides video games.

Music Development

The games Yuka worked on used a sound driver by Hirokazu Tanaka. It is unknown if she used the sound engine herself, or if she sent compositions to Hirokazu to implement into the game. His sound engine required music to be entered in 6502 assembly.

Yuka wrote the music in Kankichi-kun by Nintendo, using Intelligent Systems' variant programmed by Kenichi Nishimaki.
