This page is for the Wolfenstein 3D (DOS) song, for more titles see Victory.

Victors is one of the four unused songs in Wolfenstein 3D (DOS) and the only one not used in any other game as of July 2020. It's a longer track, probably meant for mission background music.

John Romero said that there wasn't a particular reason why this song was excluded from the game. However, if you look how the music is utilized, each background song is used in four times--only the secret levels don't follow this pattern. This track could have been written to fill one of the secret levels that used repeated music, but was just never assigned.

Victors is track 14 in the game's data files, and the IMF meta tag title is "VICTORS". The actual title is probably longer, Bobby Prince should be contacted to verify this.

Bobby Prince composed the song using Sequencer Plus Gold.

Composition

The song is in the key of D minor and plays at approximately 119 BPM. The lead instrument is a trumpet, and is followed by harmonizing clarinets and oboes. The second half of the song is identical to the first, but the riffs played by the clarinet/oboe duo are modified, and a barely-audible trumpet can be heard scaling up in (mostly) eighth-note minor intervals. The chord progressions is as follows: Dm Gm Em A Dm / Dm Gm Dm Bb(6) A(7) Dm Gn-Dm. Percussion (a timpani and snare drum) also accompany the instruments throughout the song.
