::: Hello again! I added an MT-32 and an AdLib soundtrack to Dune. For better visual clarity I divided them into three tables; I hope this doesn't break anything. Feel free to remove the table divisions if you feel it violates rules (I re-read the rules and didn't find anything specifically against dividing soundtracks by sound card). Also, you can now remove the -incomplete- tag for the soundtrack if you think it appropriate. Thanks! - [[User:Beegle|Beegle]] ([[User talk:Beegle|talk]]) 21:51, 18 January 2016 (MST)

Pages added

I'm interested mainly in DOS games from the late 80s / early 90s.

Recordings

A variety of soundcards at my disposition and will try my best to add as many recordings as possible.

Comments

Let me know if you have any comments on my edits and recordings. I'll fix any mistakes I make!

Game rips and other sections

Hello!

I edited some of your game pages according to the editing rules. Please make note that "Game Rip" section should contain "Issue Rip" mark, since the actual rip is missing.

The game recording is not a rip, except the game uses digital audio formats, such as CD, WAV, OGG, etc.

Credits => Ripper section should contain only ripper's user name link, or just the name (if user isn't registered on wiki), or N/A if the rip is missing. Any other notes should be in the appropriate sections.

Also about the Dune (DOS) page, the section "Variations in Length" needs to be moved to / rewritten as the song page.

Hello Binarymaster. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. For games like Dune and Test Drive III, I agree that Game Rips are possible to make, although I am sorry to say I can't do them myself because I lack the skills to reverse-engineer game code. So, sadly someone else will have to do them.
Ripping game music is not so hard as it seems to be, and reverse engineering the game code is rarely required. Here's an article about it, although it's not completed yet. --binarymaster (talk) 04:40, 17 January 2016 (MST)
However, for games like Soko-Ban, I doubt someone will even be able to get a game rip of the music. In my opinion the PC Speaker soundtrack is embedded in the game executable and there is no real use to rip this music out in a separate file. What is the correct course in that situation? Will the "issue rip" tag stay there indefinitely, knowing that a rip will probably never be made?
PC Speaker music can be ripped (or recomposed) in the MML format, but it really needs some RE/programming or composing skills. --binarymaster (talk) 04:40, 17 January 2016 (MST)
Concerning the music length section for Dune, I understand what you're asking, but I do not agree that it's the best option. Putting that information in the game/soundtrack page was the most logical choice for me, because the issue described affects the whole soundtrack, not one song. I found it important that listeners see this information when hitting the play button on the tracks, which they most likely do directly from the Dune article. If we move that info further down the line (on individual song pages) the info will become invisible to the majority of listeners. And the info about the track length will be duplicated/disseminated on each individual track instead of gathered in the most unified spot : the game page.
Ok, I got it. To be in the harmony with editing rules, I joined recordings into one table, and moved notice to the recording section. Also here's the same situation, when the same song has different length between audio devices - Ski or Die (DOS) (Main Theme - PC Speaker vs. other devices). --binarymaster (talk) 04:40, 17 January 2016 (MST)
This said, I know you have a lot more experience on this wiki so I'll let your judgement decide (you are probably "more right" because of this) but I just wanted to explain the reason why I did the edit this way. - Beegle (talk) 13:33, 16 January 2016 (MST)
