My Forum avatar is my character and Lord Urslingen from my favorite game of all time, Pool of Radiance (NES).

Hello there, my name is Nick Kalata. I was born in Seattle on June 8, 1994. I've always had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. My very first song was written when I was 15. The first video game musician I ever talked to was Mason Fisher, who I knew from the Eye of the Beholder III music. I later ended up talking to Frank Klepacki who ended up telling me he used AdLib Visual Composer (DOS) to score the music for Eye of the Beholder II. I downloaded the program just to look at it, but while in the program, I decided to try my hand at composing a tune, and thus, my first song (which I later titled Rise of Darkness) was made. When I saw that I could successfully write music, I started doing that. I used to play electric guitar and I was a bass drummer in my school's drumline, but I mainly play piano and keyboards. Some of my main musical influences are Alice in Chains, Barenaked Ladies, and Heatwave. Other influences include Alan Parson Project (Turn of a Friendly Card), Nirvana (Nevermind/In Utero), Pearl Jam (Ten), Robert Cray, and especially Sting (Mercury Falling/Ten Summoner's Tales).

My goal is to contribute as many game soundtracks to the site as possible (mostly for NES games). I like to compose my music on Famitracker and Digital Orchestrator.

I also record soundtracks for the more obscure/unknown games mostly in the NES library.

If you are a video game musician who would like me to add or remove something to your page, please feel free to contact me at doommaster1994@yahoo.com

Thanks for stopping by!
