My avatar is my character and Lord Urslingen from my favorite game of all time, Pool of Radiance (NES).

Hello there, my name is Nick Kalata. I was born in Seattle on June 8, 1994. I've always had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. My very first song was written when I was 15. The first video game musician I ever talked to was Mason Fisher, who I knew from the Eye of the Beholder III music. I later ended up talking to Frank Klepacki who ended up telling me he used AdLib Visual Composer (DOS) to score the music for Eye of the Beholder II. I downloaded the program just to look at it, but while in the program, I decided to try my hand at composing a tune, and thus, my first song (which I later titled Rise of Darkness) was made. When I saw that I could successfully write music, I started doing that. I play bass, guitar, keyboards, and even know some drums. Some of my main musical influences are Alice in Chains, Barenaked Ladies, and Heatwave. Other influences include The Alan Parsons Project (I Robot/Turn of a Friendly Card), Chicago, Pilot (From the Album of the Same Name/Second Flight), Steely Dan, and especially Sting (Mercury Falling/Ten Summoner's Tales).

My goal is to contribute as many game soundtracks to the site as possible (mostly for NES games). I like to compose my music on Famitracker and Digital Orchestrator.

Though I like the popular soundtracks such as Super Mario Bros. (NES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), and the like, I am more into obscure/unknown video game soundtracks.

Over the years, I have also got in touch with several composers who have revealed the composers behind a lot of the early games.

I am also a ripper of the VGM format, though I don't do it as much as I used to. I don't normally do VGM logging requests, though if one wants a soundtrack badly enough, I try to help. Have you seen my VGM Logging tutorial?

If you are a video game musician who would like me to add or remove something to your page, please feel free to contact me at doommaster1994@yahoo.com

Thanks for stopping by!

My Game Rips

Note that some of these have multiple rip formats. For those games, I will list in parentheses which format of the game I ripped. Note that these are all in the VGM/VGZ format unless otherwise noted.
