Tiger-Heli is an early scrolling shoot-em-up where you pilot a helicopter through several stages of enemy combatants. It follows the basic strategy of early shumps: kill everything on the screen and avoid the bullets. The arcade game may have been just a little behind the times, but by the time it was ported to the NES, vastly superior scrolling shooters like Gradius (NES) were already on the market. The graphics are very primative, there is no animation to speak of, and the game has a very boring pace. Maneuvering the ship is a pain because it's so slow, the power-ups are uninspired, and the music is lame. The game doesn't even have an ending, the backgrounds just keep repeating until you lose all of your lives.

With a soundtrack of only five songs, three of which are fanfares, you can't really expect much from the music department. The audio is repetitive and bland. The music changes when you pick up a little heli, which is a nice touch, but aside from that, the entire game uses the same boring music.
+
The NES soundtrack was ported from the arcade game (composed by Tatsuya Uemura) and arranged for the NES audio chip. The High Score tune from the arcade game was left out, decreasing the already small soundtrack.

 +
For the bulk of the game, you'll hear a single background tune, though it does change when you pick up a little heli, which is a nice touch. Other than that, there are a few fanfares and jingles, leaving much to be desired in the audio department.

Tiger-Heli is an early scrolling shoot-em-up developed by Toaplan. You pilot a helicopter through several stages of enemy combatants. It follows the basic strategy of early shumps: kill everything on the screen while avoiding enemy ships and bullets. There are also power-ups of little helicopters that act as your wing-men to increase your firepower and protect you from bullets. The game supports hot-seat multiplayer, but not simultaneous multiplayer. Once you complete all the levels, there isn't a final boss or ending, the game just returns you back to level one to continue playing.

Aside from the expected decrease in multimedia fidelity, the game is a fairly faithful port of the original arcade game.

Music

The NES soundtrack was ported from the arcade game (composed by Tatsuya Uemura) and arranged for the NES audio chip. The High Score tune from the arcade game was left out, decreasing the already small soundtrack.

For the bulk of the game, you'll hear a single background tune, though it does change when you pick up a little heli, which is a nice touch. Other than that, there are a few fanfares and jingles, leaving much to be desired in the audio department.
