The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (ゼルダの伝説 神々のトライフォース) is the third game in the Legend of Zelda series. Like the first game, it is a top-down adventure game with a fantasy theme. You collect various items, explore dungeons, forest, and mountains, and become more powerful as the game progresses. You play the role of Link, a boy who lives with his uncle. One stormy night, your uncle leaves with a sword and shield, but won't say why. You then find yourself in communication with Princess Zelda, who has been kidnapped, and is being held hostage by an evil priest. Later, you learn that many other maidens have been kidnapped as part of some strange ritual.
Many of the earlier themes exist in this game, octarocks, the Triforce, bombs and arrows, rupies, fairies, Ganon, etc. And several new themes have been introduced like the Master Sword, a dark and light world, the hook-shot, bottles, and more. The game is sufficiently long with over 20 dungeons and two full overworlds. It also have wonderful graphics, animation, and music.

The quality of game music took a huge step forward past the previous two games. Stereo output, orchestra sound, and plenty of fascinating tunes made the soundtrack as epic as the game. The tempos and timbres are all over the place from the soothing instruments of Kakariko Village to the epic sound of the Dark World contrasted with the curiousness of the Forest. Koji Kondo remixed some of his earlier songs, but mostly made wonderful new tracks for this game.
Many of the songs in the game have a volume fade in, playing quieter for the first few seconds before reaching full volume.
The titles come from the official soundtrack album.
