T&C II: Thrilla's Surfari (NES)
|T&C II: Thrilla's Surfari|
T&C II: Thrilla's Surfari is a game based on the Town & Country Surf Designs franchise and is the successor to T&C Surf Designs: Wood & Water Rage (NES). This game was pretty good for an LJN release; the game features great gameplay mechanics, controls, graphics and music, and blows its prequel out of the water (No pun intended). Throughout the game, the player can find secret warps that will take him to later levels in the game.
In this game, you play as Thrilla Gorilla. The story is that in Africa, a giant rock commands Wazula to steal your girl, Barbi Bikini. While Thrilla is surfing, Wazula kidnaps her, and Thrilla must get her back by skateboarding and surfing through many stages.

While there is not a whole lot to offer for music for a game in 1991, the game has a lot of catchy tunes. The people who have played the game have found the game's music to be very memorable and catchy. The title screen/level theme 1 music has some nice square drums. The level 2 theme does not loop, so after the song's done, you're left to sound effects. Level theme 3 is repetitive but it has a cool drum beat. The ending theme is also nice, but since it plays a flute, it plays high frequencies which sound just a little ear piercing.
The game and its instruction manual lack credits. However, Paul Webb, main composer and sound designer of Sculptured Software verified he composed the music. Plus, it uses his audio driver and all of the other Sculptured Software games for NES that had credits attribute him for the audio. Paul said he composed the music on his Ensoniq EPS and then programmed his compositions into the game.
