NES (Enix)
Koichi Sugiyama was the sole composer for a vast majority of Enix's NES games. He would send sheet music to the sound programmers Masumi Takimoto, Takenori Yamamori, and Yasuhiro Taguchi, each of which had their own sound driver. The three programmers would then implement his music into the game by utilizing Music Macro Language.
NES (Squaresoft)
Squaresoft's first NES sound driver was designed by Toshiaki Imai. Starting with Final Fantasy II (FC), the company switched to using a newer driver by Hiroshi Nakamura. Nobuo Uematsu composed for the vast majority, if not all of their NES titles.
SNES (Squaresoft)
The majority of Squaresoft's SNES games used a sound driver designed by Minoru Akao, though a few of their later games used a different driver created by Hidenori Suzuki.
