Power Plant is a song composed by Harumi Fujita for Bionic Commando (ARC), but it has since been rearranged for several ports. The song has a much more technological sound than the other tunes, which is fitting to the high tech nature of areas where it is heard.
The song originally went by various titles like Area 8 due the NES port, Control Tower from the arcade game, and The Tower of Demon from the Legend of Game Music: Premium Box album. However, the official title was designated by Simon Wiklund on the official NES soundtrack.
This song was partially covered by Machinae Supremacy to promote the Bionic Commando reboot.
Bionic Commando (ARC)
Power Plant plays as the background music of stage 4: Control Tower in the arcade game. This is the original version of the song.
This song was included on the Legend of Game Music: Premium Box album. It's track 53 on disc 3, and it has the title "The Tower of Demon".
The song plays on a YM2151 sound chip and is song number 0x0A in the game's sound test.
Bionic Commando (NES)
Power Plant holds the distinction of being the only song in Bionic Commando (NES) that is only played in one area, and doesn't even have to be heard in order to finish the game.
In the 8-bit soundtrack liner notes, Jeffery Kang writes:
Bionic Commando (C64)
Bionic Commando had two different ports for the Commodore 64, one for North American, which did not feature this song, and one for Europe which did. Like the arcade game, Power Plant is played in the fourth stage of the game. The song is track 8 in the SID file.
Bionic Commando: Rearmed (W32)
Power Plant was remixed by Simon Wiklund for Bionic Commando: Rearmed.
