Peter Gunn Theme
Composer Henry Mancini
Released 1958-09-22
Title Origin Official

The Peter Gunn Theme is the theme music for the television show Peter Gunn. It was composed by Henry Mancini and originally recorded by the Henry Mancini Orchestra. The tune is a hip, brassy number with an insistent piano-and-bass line. The song earned Mancini an Emmy Award and two Grammys.

In video games, the song has been quite popular in the Spy Hunter, Espionage, and The Blues Brothers series. Also, Title - Clever & Smart is based on it.

When the game starts only a few bars are played of the Peter Gunn Theme before it stops. From then on, the theme is played again every time you enter a weapons van. The song continues to play on a loop until you crash.

This version is interesting, as the solo near the end of the loop is randomly generated.

In the PC boot loader port the Peter Gunn Theme plays at the title screen for 25 seconds, and then unceremoniously stops in the middle of a bar. The music is played through the PC Speaker, which doesn't do the song much justice.
