Pan Playing Flute is the song played when Rosella sees Pan gaily prancing around the screen playing his flute (even though he traditionally play panpipes). This can happen in a couple screens in the area behind the fisherman's house. The song was composed by William Goldstein. It plays as a single haunting repeating woodwind.

Five different types of output were designed for the DOS release, each output corresponds to a different group of devices, the Roland, Yamaha, OPL2, 3 Voice, and PC Speaker.

The official version of the song uses the MT-32 output and, though it uses only a single woodwind instrument, the echo effect gives it a very haunting sound. The OPL2 version lacks the echo which takes away from the haunting sound. The 3 Voice is very similar to the OPL2, only slightly more tinny sounding. Since the song only has a single instrument, the PC Speaker version is actually pretty close to the original. It has the same notes, it just lacks all of the audio effects.

The file is sound.007 in the resource files, it loops as long as Pan is still on the screen.

The Atari ST port included at least two types of output, one for Roland devices and one for the system's built-in YM2149 audio chip. Since the Roland output is the same as the DOS release, it will not be recorded.

Other Ports

The Apple II port does contain music, but this song was excluded to conserve space.
