Lemmings is a puzzle game where you try and safely lead a line of lemmings to the exit of a dangerous room. Because they simply walk forward, regardless of the hazards that lie ahead of them, you must change their behavior to keep them from falling, drowning, burning, being squished, and any other manner of horrible death.
You do this by giving the lemmings various jobs like digging, climbing, building, blocking, etc. Each stage increases in difficulty; the first 20 stages or so are relatively easy and teach you the basics of the game. The next 20 teach you more of the advanced tactics and require you to get creative. However, by the time you reach the last levels, the game becomes aggravatingly difficult. It stops being about figuring out the puzzle, and starts being about how accurately you can time your clicks. And since they only give you just enough lemmings to finish the stage, a single mistake forces you to restart the entire level.

Music
Lemmings features a combination of unique songs, nursery rhymes, classical pieces, and covers from other videogames. The original soundtrack was composed by Tim Wright and Brian Johnston, and their music was arranged for the DOS port by Tony Williams. Music is not tied to specific levels and simply cycles through tracks 2-18 as you beat each level. However, this patten is interrupted on four special levels, E1M22, E2M14, E3M15, and E4M22.
The music could be played either on AdLib or any other OPL2 compatible, or on the Tandy 3 Voice. Currently, only the AdLib recording has been made.

Game Rip
The original music files are in the AdLib.DAT and TandySnd.DAT files and have yet to be ripped properly. The VGM rip was made by logging the AdLib data from DOSBox. This rip should be updated once the original music files have been properly extracted.
The DAT files can be decompressed with this program. The decompressed AdLib.DAT files contains the titles for the music files, although several of them have been updated to their current titles to better fit what the song actually is.

(No Source - There is no sound setup. The game automatically detects which device you have and uses the optimal.)
Any 100% AdLib compatible device will be detected as AdLib. If you are using a Tandy with an AdLib card, the game will not give you the option of using your Tandy 3 Voice. Thus, if you want to hear the music at the lower fidelity, you'll have to manually remove your AdLib card.
