Kazuhiko Nagai is a Japanese composer, sound designer, and sound programmer known for his many works at Sega. He joined them in 1986. He also designed the first version of Sega's Genesis sound engine. Some of Kazuhiko's best-known works is Altered Beast, Moonwalker, Ghostbusters, and Phantasy Star II.

One of the games Nagai worked on was Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (GEN). While he doesn't remember having anything to do with it, there is a name "Iagan" in the Sound Assistant credits, which is Nagai backwards.

He is married to former Sega composer Chikako Kamatani.

Music Development

Genesis

Kazuhiko used SMPS using a PC-9801 computer and programmed the music in assembly, which was converted to his own version of the Genesis/Mega Drive sound engine.
