Kaneko (カネコ or 金子製作所) was a Japanese video game developer and publisher. The namesake of the company comes from its founder, Hiroshi Kaneko. Kaneko mostly developed arcade games, but also worked on many home console games as well. When they worked on home consoles, they usually did so through their home console development division, Inter State.
In the late 90s, things started to take a turn for the worse for Kaneko. They introduced a home console called the Super Nova System which was not unlike the Neo Geo. When Hitachi filed a lawsuit against the company for the Super Nova System, it forced the company to file for bankruptcy in 2004. In 2006, the company finally closed its doors after a civil lawsuit.
The company was probably best known for its Gals Panic series of games.
