KGB (re-released in 1994 as Conspiracy) is a point-and-click adventure video game developed by Cryo Interactive, which takes place during the final days of the Soviet Union. The protagonist, Captain Maksim Mikahilovich Rukov - recently transferred from the GRU after three years' duty - is ordered to investigate possible corruption inside the KGB after a former agent turned private eye was found murdered. However, as the plot progresses, Rukov finds himself investigating a political plot of dangerous proportions.
In 1994, the game was re-released on CD as Conspiracy. The game is almost exactly the same, except for the addition of several full-motion videos, including hints delivered by the protagonist's deceased father, played by Donald Sutherland.

Music
The soundtrack for KGB was written by Stéphane Picq. Like other games made by Cryo Interactive that use AdLib, this game uses the HERAD music system. Not only do both Dune (DOS) and KGB share very similar game engines, they both use the same HERAD music engine and as a result, the music files for KGB can be played in Dune, when compressed in the HSQ file format.
Like Dune, KGB was to have a soundtrack released on CD through Virgin Records as well, entitled, Rave/Age. It would have featured the music from the game, re-recorded using professional studio instruments, just like Dune: Spice Opera. According to Picq, the CD master was sent to Virgin, but they ultimately decided to not release the album. It is unknown if Picq still has a copy of the master.
Recording
The soundtrack was recorded using a special build of DOSBox, that utilizes the Nuked OPL3 emulator which is the most accurate AdLib emulator available. The music was recorded in game, rather than using RdosPlay, as some tracks (such as Paradise) do not play correctly in that program.
