History 1 plays on the first stage (Incaic Empire or インカ帝国) of Starship Hector. It also plays during the credits displayed at the end of the game.

The song was written by Takeaki Kunimoto on his Yamaha CX-7 MSX2 computer. The song was then given to Hudson Soft to implement into the game.

The song's title comes from Kinoko Kunimoto History Vol.3: Meikyuu Hector. Its title is in English, HISTORY 1. The album Famicom 20th Anniversary - Original Sound Tracks, Vol.2 also uses the same title.

Composition

The song is a fast-paced rock tune. It plays in the key of A minor at approximately 150 BPM.

The song sounds identical to Stage 1 from RoboWarrior (NES), also composed by Takeaki Kunimoto.

An unused version of the song exists in the game's code which excludes the intro. This may have been used when the player loses a life and returns back to the stage. However, when the player dies, the music goes silent, and when the player restarts the level, the song plays with the intro once more. The staff roll also uses the version with the intro as well.
